The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Monday asked all its educational institutions to establish a cell for handling grievances of the students related to examinations and other academic activities arising due to the coronavirus pandemic.

A notice regarding this has been uploaded on the commission’s official website.

As per the notification, a dedicated help line number: 011-23236374 has been set up to monitor the queries, grievances, and other academic matters of students, teachers, and institutions arising due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Moreover, an e-mail address: [email protected] has been created by the UGC for handling these matters.

“Students can also lodge their grievances on the existing Online Students Grievance Redressal Portal of UGC,” the notification stated.

The UGC has also constituted a task force to monitor concerns and grievances of students, teachers, and institutions, and redress them accordingly.

“The UGC has issued Guidelines on Examinations and Academic Calendar in view of COVID-19 Pandemic on April 29, 2020,” the notification stated.

“Accordingly, all universities have been advised to plan their academic activities keeping in view the safety and interest of all stakeholders, giving highest priority to the health of all concerned, while adopting and implementing the guidelines,” it added.

The UGC has further requested all universities and colleges to upload the notice on their respective official website and also share it with the teaching and student community via email and other digital media for students and teachers.
