Two bike riders were killed on the spot when the bike, on which they were travelling, collided head-on with a truck on National Highway 15 near Besimari under Dalgaon Police Station in Darrang district on Sunday night.
The bike bearing registration No AS-01AJ-8660 was on its way from Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district towards Guwahati when it collided with the truck with registration No AS-01DD-5657 coming from the opposite direction.

The police with the help of the mobile phones of the victims have identified one of the deceased as 27-year-old Mithun Pasowan, a resident of Durga Sarobar in Kamakhya Gate under Bharalumukh Police Station in Guwahati while the other deceased has not been identified till filing of this report.
The bodies of both the bodies have been brought to Mangaldai Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
Locals have alleged that due to the non-repair of the dilapidated road in the area, the stretch of the National Highway has turned out to be a death trap in recent time for people who drive in high speed at night.
