Security Forces on Tuesday apprehended two NSCN (R) rebels identified as Channong Matcha and Jimreves Kimsing along with a pistol and ammunition from Songking village in Arunachal Pradesh.
Sources said the Jairampur Battalion in the early hours on Tuesday, launched an operation in Songking village resulting in the arrest of the two militants.
Both the cadres have been active members of the banned outfit since 2017. The cadres have been actively involved in extortion activities in Miao circle in Arunachal Pradesh.
Defence PRO (Kohima) Col C Konwer informed that in the last one week, security forces under the guidance of Dao division killed two ‘hardcore’ cadres, apprehended another five ‘hardcore’ cadres and recovered a large amount of arms and ammunition.
“The Security forces have been carrying out aggressive operations in South Arunachal Pradesh and this apprehension has struck a blow to the extortion activities being carried out by the underground cadres of the group in the area,” Col Konwer said.
