Two more NPF legislators – Dr Longrineken representing 29 Jangpetkong Assembly constituency and L Khumo Khiamniungan representing 57 Thonoknyu Assembly constituency resigned from Nagaland Legislative Assembly on Friday. No nominations were filed on the third day of filing of nominations on Friday.
In a notification on Friday evening, commissioner and secretary, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, N Benjamin Newmai said Speaker Dr Imtiwapang Aier has accepted the resignations of NPF legislators and declared the two seats vacant.

So far, 15 MLAs, 13 from NPF and two Independents, resigned from the membership of the Assembly, reducing the strength of the 60-member House to 44. One seat fell vacant after the death of a member in December last year.
Meanwhile, Expenditure Observer for Kiphire district Dr S Periyannan on Friday inspected the functioning of various expenditure monitoring teams such as flying squad, static surveillance team, video surveillance team, video viewing team, media certification and monitoring committee, control room along with Kiphire Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Mohammed Ali Shihab, ADC and RO for 60 AC Kumar Ramnikant and ADC and RO for 59 AC Nchumbemo. Kiphire district has two Assembly constituencies – 59 AC and 60 AC.
Before the inspection, the Expenditure Observer held discussion with various stakeholders who are all involved in the election expenditure monitoring such as Excise Department, Income Tax Department, Police Department and also imparted training to all the teams and shared the different views and modalities while functioning in the field.
