Agartala: Tripura Police apprehended two individuals late Monday night and seized 2.212 kg of heroin valued at Rs. 25 crore in Damcherra, located in the North District of Tripura.
North District Superintendent of Police, Bhanupada Chakraborty said that they had received prior intelligence regarding the transportation of a substantial quantity of narcotics from Mizoram to the Sonamura sub-division under Tripura’s Sepahijala District.

“Acting on confidential information, the Officer-In-Charge of Damcherra Police Station intercepted a Hyundai Venue vehicle with registration number TR 01 BV 0595 in Damcherra, discovering 2.212 kg of heroin concealed within 177 plastic cases. Two individuals, Sahidul Rahaman (35) and Jasim Uddin (35), both residents of Kulobari under the Sonamura sub-division, were arrested. The estimated value of the seized contraband is around Rs. 25 crore,” said the SP.
