Imphal: Two election expenditure observers appointed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to observe the election expenses incurred by the candidates in connection with the conduct of the election in the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency (Scheduled Tribe Reserved) have arrived in the state.

This was stated by A. Subhash Singh, District Election Officer/District Commissioner Thoubal who is also the Returning Officer of the Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency in an official notification on Thursday.

The Outer Manipur Lok Sabha seat will go to the polls in two phases on April 19 and April 26. Manipur has two Lok Sabha seats.

The intending contesting candidates/their agents and all recognized national and state political parties functioning in Manipur are informed to contact relating to election expenditures through their contact numbers 9868763537 and 9650830566 as soon as possible.

Expenditure observers for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency (ST) namely Dr. Bhartendu Kumar Singh and Gaurav Kumar Singh arrived in Thoubal on Wednesday.

A. Subhash Singh welcomed both the members at his office. He briefed both the members about the election scenarios. Dr. Bhartendu Kumar Singh will observe the election expenditure of Thoubal, Jiribam, Chandel, Ukhrul, and Senapati districts having 16 assembly segments; while Gaurav Kumar Singh will observe the election expenditure of Kangpokpi, Tamenglong, and Churachandpur Districts. These districts have 12 assembly constituencies.

Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency has a total of 28 Assembly Segments in total.

The interactive meeting was also attended by the Nodal Officer for Expenditure Monitoring, Meiringmei Agang Kabui Treasury Officer, Thoubal) and Nodal Officer for Media, Tenshubam Sangeeta.
