Sleuths of Assam Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell on Friday arrested senior inspector of Cooperative department Rajdweep Nath and Deputy Registrar Bidhan Saikia in connection with a scam of the State Cooperative department.
The duo were summoned to CM Special Vigilance Cell office here on Friday and was arrested after being questioned for a few hours in connection with the scam involving several lakh of rupees.
The CM Vigilance Cell had registered a case (no- 1/2016) in connection with the scam in 2016.
The duo was later produced at the Special Judge Court in Guwahati which sent them to 14-day police custody.
“The duo were produced before the court of special judge, Assam, Alokeswar Bhattacharyya, here this afternoon. The court remanded them in judicial custody for 14 days,” a source said.
The source said the accused persons had allegedly entered into a conspiracy to misappropriate government funds.
