Agartala: In Kamalpur, under the Dhalai district, Tripura Police seized a substantial quantity of Yaba tablets valued at Rs. 78 lakh and apprehended two individuals on Thursday night.
Dhalai Additional Superintendent of Police, Manabendra Rai, revealed that they acted upon a tip-off regarding a four-wheeler en route to Agartala city, transporting a significant contraband load from Dharmanagar in the North District, which shares an interstate boundary with Assam and Mizoram.

“Late Thursday evening, we initiated tracking of the vehicle, setting up checkpoints and alerting police personnel. Upon its arrival, we detained the vehicle, conducted a thorough search, and discovered 78,000 Yaba tablets concealed in 39 small containers within a secret chamber,” stated the ASP.
He added that the driver, identified as Mridul Hossain, and co-driver, identified as Tinku Miah, both residents of Sepahijala district sharing a substantial portion of the international border with Bangladesh, have been arrested.
“The estimated market value is approximately Rs. 78 lakh. A case has been registered against them, and an investigation is underway,” informed the ASP.
