Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday asked the people to join the Fit India Movement which will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
“We can’t build #NewIndia without staying healthy and fit! I humbly urge everyone to join with full energy & enthusiasm to PM Shri @narendramodi ji‘s #FitIndiaMovement on 29th Aug. Let’s take a step towards a Healthy and Fit India,” he tweeted.

The Fit India movement will be launched by the Prime Minister at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday.
The Fit India movement has been planned with an aim to spread awareness about the importance of staying fit through different kinds of physical activities.
Schools have also been asked to arrange the screening of the live telecast of the Fit India movement in order to show the programme to its students and staff.
The schools have also been asked to conduct any kind of physical activities on the campus in addition to screening the launch programme.
Moreover, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has also asked the higher educational institutes to make arrangements for screening the programme in their respective venues.
The UGC has asked the higher educational institutes to walk at least 10000 steps and promote the importance of fitness in their campuses.
The higher educational institutions have also been asked to prepare and implement an institutional fitness plan.
The educational institutions have also been asked to share videos of the proceedings followed as a part of the Fit India movement to the concerned authorities.
