Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu arrived in Agartala to take part in the convocation of the Tripura University on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Barma, Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Revenue Minister N C Debbarma, Forest Minister Mebar Kumar Jamatia, Chief Secretary Sanjiv Ranjan, DGP A K Shukla and other officials received the Vice President in the airport who reached here at noon in a special India Air Force aircraft.

The Vice President after formal introduction with the new cabinet and inspection of the salute by the TSR moved to the Raj Bhavan.

He is taking part in the convocation programme at Maharaja Bir Bikram Memorial auditorium at the Tripura University campus at Suryamaninagar.

The convocation programme is taking place after six years. Earlier former President Pranab Mukherjee and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hassina also took part in the convocation programme of Tripura University.
