Tripura’s chess wonder kid Arshiya Das kept alive her winning run even on Monday night in the under eight years world chess championship held in the Spanish town of Santiago de Compostela by beating higher-rated Latvian opponent Kuznecova Marija in 55 moves, according to tripurainfo.com.

The report stated that Arshiya had the advantage of playing with white and acting upon sage counsel from her coach FIDE master Prasenjit Dutta went on the attack from the very beginning and gained an initial advantage even from the opening.

Later on playing judiciously, Arshiya converted her advantage into a clear win despite stiff resistance put up by her rival Kuznecova Marija, the report added.

The match took four hours to be completed. On the third day of the under eight years world chess championship, Arshiya will take on her higher rated US rival Miss Gu Crystal Jiuzhou og with a rating of 1284 points at the Indian time of 9-00 pm with black pieces.

According to the report, Arshiya was adjusting fast to the conditions prevailing in Spain now. Expectations are high that wonder kid from Tripura would progress further ahead in the tough tournament which has 84 players from 48 countries from across the world.
