The police in Tripura’s West Agartala has arrested one of their own – a woman police constable for having alleged links with Ganja traders.

The woman police constable identified as Gayatri Das was arrested from her residence near Agartala town late on Wednesday night.

Gayatri Das, a head constable with Tripura Police, was earlier suspended on February 15 on charges of having links with Ganja traders.

Gayatri Das was suspended by West Tripura SP after a telephone conversation between her and another person, Prashanta Chakraborty – a drugs mafia, was leaked in the social media.

The duo talked about Ganja trading in the area.

Thus far, a total of 88 police personnel including Gayatri Das have either been suspended or arrested for alleged liaison with Ganja traders.

“Gayatri Das was posted at the police headquarter of Tripura for a long time. As a result, her understanding with influential people developed in many ways,” police sources claimed.

Meanwhile, Prashanta Chakraborty remains absconding.
