Agartala: Tripura police arrested two individuals on Wednesday (June 26) and confiscated Heroin valued at Rs 2 crore in Dharmanagar sub-division of North district.
SP of North district in Tripura, Bhanupada Chakraborty, informed that the police acted on a tip-off regarding Heroin being smuggled from Mizoram to Tripura.
“Based on the information, we intercepted a vehicle in Dharmanagar. Upon searching it, we discovered 17 pouches containing over 200 grams of Heroin, with an estimated market value of over Rs 2 crore,” stated the SP.
The suspects, identified as Javed Ali (30) and Joydul Hossain (30), both residents of Boxanagar in Sepahijala district of Tripura, were taken into custody.
“We seized the vehicle, and during the preliminary investigation, the suspects disclosed that they had transported the heroin from Mizoram with the intention of smuggling it into Khowai,” Chakraborty added.
