In a shocking incident, two Tripura State Rifles (TSR) jawans were killed by a fellow jawan on Saturday morning.

The two Tripura State Rifles Jawans were killed after one of their colleagues opened indiscriminate firing.

The incident has been reported from ONGC GCS situated at Madhupur in Tripura’s Sephajala district.

The two deceased jawans and the accused belong to the 5th battalion of the TSR.

The police in Tripura have informed that the accused jawan surrendered before the police with arms and ammunition.

The deceased jawans have been identified as Subedar Marka Singh Jamatia and Naib Subedar Kiran Jamatia.

Meanwhile, Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb has announced a compensation of Rs 5 Lakhs each to the bereaved families of the victims.

“My homage to our brave personnel of Tripura State Rifles – Subedar Marka Singh Jamatia and Naib Subedar Kiran Jamatia who died while on duty today,” said Tripura CM Biplab Deb.

He added: “Tripura government has decided to give Rs 5 Lakh each to bereaved families. They will also get benefits under the die-in-harness scheme.”

The accused identified as Sukanta Das, killed two of his colleagues over rejection of his leave application.
