About 700 kilograms of organic Queen variety pineapples have been transported to Delhi and Telangana from Tripura.
Organic ‘Queen’ variety pineapple is regularly exported to overseas markets under the Organic Mission so that the income of the farmers of Tripura is not affected due to the COVID19 situation.
A Bangalore-based company, Internal Competency Center for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA) had an agreement with the Tripura government for marketing the organic pineapples of Neermahal Organic Farmers Producers Company.
The agriculture officer of Mohanbhog Agriculture Sub-Division, Dr Vibhas Kanti Dey and ICCOA officer Bishwanath Chakraborty have started regular transportation and export of organic Queen variety pineapples.
Two companies – AR4 Agro International, Hyderabad in Telangana and KCS Quality Inspection Private Limited, Delhi – are taking these organic pineapples with the support of Indigo Airlines.
The farmers are able to sell pineapples at a good price sitting in their homes during this COVID19 pandemic period.
Pineapples are being transported from the state through flights.
Kisan Udan was arranged by the central government in the last budget.
Farmers in the state will get the benefits of this service, which has been started in Agartala.
The state has had a great harvest this year under the Organic Mission.
Organic pineapple is a little more expensive and the market demand is also higher.
