Tripura to start COVID-19 antigen test from next Monday

Tripura government will start door to door COVID-19 test across the State very soon.

In the first phase, the door to door testing will be held in the 28 containments zone only.

After that, it will be held across the State.

Law minister Ratan Lal Nath while informing this said at present 7629 people are living in the containments zone areas.

The health workers will go to every house and screen the members.

And those who have fever and other symptoms will go through the COVID-19 test.

The tests will be done through an antigen detection kit.

Besides this, the State Government will start the COVID-19 test for all passengers of flights, trains and by road in spot antigen detection kit from the next week.

The swab will be collected while the passengers enter the State and they will stay at that point till the results come.

It will take a maximum of one hour’s time for the result.

If anyone found positive then the person will be sent to COVID care centre from that spot.

Those tested negative will be sent to home quarantine for 14 days.

Nath said the State needs 40,000 antigen detection kits.

At present, 15000 kits are available.

In these kits, the test report comes within 30 minutes.

The State Cabinet on Wednesday decided to start antigen test to detect early coronavirus infection in the State.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says, Test-track-treat method should be used to identify the COVID-19 patient.

In view of the ICMR directives, the State Government has already made antigen test mandatory for those who come through MBB airport, railway stations, Churaibari gate and Damchara.

Nath said, the antigen test may start latest by next Monday positively.
