Tripura government has decided to impose total lockdown in the state with effect from July 27 as COVID19 positive cases continue to rise in the state.

The lockdown, to be started from 5 am on July 27 (Monday), will continue till July 30.

Announcing this in the evening on Saturday, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb informed that there are about 1.5 thousand active cases in the state.

Tripura has a better testing rate and a lower mortality rate than the national average, he said, adding, “Currently, the situation in Tripura is good.”

The home antigen test will be started on Monday.

The Anganwari workers, who will be involved in the process, will be given an extra Rs 1,000, the chief minister said.

The chief minister announced, “50,000 APL families will be given extra rice for one more month.”

The chief minister hoped the people of Tripura will respond well to the lockdown like the previous lockdowns imposed in the state.

The chief minister appealed to the people of the state to abide by the lockdown norms.

It is hoped that the lockdown would break the chain of the virus in the state.

The chief minister said, “A new war against Corona will start from Monday.”
