The NESO which consist of All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU), All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Garo Students’ Union (GSU), Mizo Zirlai Paul (MZP), Twipura Students’ Federation (TSF) which represents the students’ community of the entire region belonging to different languages and religions.

TSF leader Sunil Debbarma told media they have submitted this memorandum to Governor to express their dismay and displeasure that the Central Government has again intended to introduce the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in Parliament.

He said that, the Central Government is again planning to pass the CAB in the Parliament, which will create a negative effect in the Northeast and the indigenous people of this region.

Everybody may recall that there was tension and public agitation in the whole of the Northeast in the month of January and February 2019 when the BJP government was trying to get the Bill passed in the Rajya Sabha which ultimately was not tabled taking into account the sentiments of the indigenous peoples of the Northeast.

It is notable that last January Tripura police also opened fire when the student agitators were violent during a demonstration against CAB at Madhavbari of Jirania.
