Tripura: Storm affected families of Khowai district take shelter in school

Around one hundred families, most of them tribals, are living in schools for the last two days as their houses have been destroyed in pre-monsoon rain and hail storm in Khowai district of Tripura.

The affected families have taken shelter in the Dukhai Jamadar Para Senior Basic School and the Hariram Sardar Para Senior Basic School. The storm has caused extensive damage to few ADC villages under Teliamura sub-division.

Roof tops of several houses were blown away by the cyclonic storm coupled with rain and thundershowers in the past few days.

Massive damage to water and power supply has also been caused.

Principal Secretary Kumar Alok reached the spot and took stock of the situation and assured all help from the government.

The district administration is also gearing up to render all possible help to the affected people.

The administration is providing food, water, health checkup and medicine and financial aid.
