A jawan of Tripura State Rifles (TSR) was found hanging in Agartala on Wednesday.
The body of Narayan Deb, a jawan of TSR second battalion, was found hanging from a tree at Kumaritilla area in Agartala.
Police said Deb, who was arrested on charges of assaulting one of his fellow jawans few months ago, walked out of jail in February this year.
Deb, a resident of Saal Bagan, Hatipara, had to spend 42 days in jail custody on charges of assaulting one of his colleague.
He had joined his duty recently and departmental proceedings have been started against him.
Deb’s family members alleged that he committed suicide after being frustrated over the fact that he had to spend in jail.
On February 28, his colleague Kundan Shing Nagi had lodged a complaint with Bodhjungnagar Police, alleging that Deb had assaulted him.
Police said Deb’s body has been sent for postmortem examination and the investigation into the case is underway.
Earlier in February this year, Tripura police Sub Inspector Jayanta Baidya was found hanging inside his official quarter in Agartala.
