Tripura government renames two locations in state in Kokborok

The Tripura government has renamed two locations in the state in Kokborok.

The easternmost town in Tripura – Gandachera and highest hill range in the state – Atharamura have been renamed in Kokborok.

These two places in Tripura were renamed on Wednesday on the occasion of 44th Kokborok Day.

Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb announced his government’s decision to rename these two important locations of the state.

“Gandachera in Dhalai district will now be known as Ganda Tuisa and Atharamura will be known as Hachuk Berem,” said CM Biplab Deb.

Notably, in the last Kokborok Day, Baramura hill range was renamed as Hatai Katar.

Hatai Katar is home to a large number of Hornbill bird.

Kokborok is lingua franca of a majority of Tripura’s 19 tribal communities.
