The Tripura government has renamed two locations in the state in Kokborok.

The easternmost town in Tripura โ€“ Gandachera and highest hill range in the state โ€“ Atharamura have been renamed in Kokborok.

These two places in Tripura were renamed on Wednesday on the occasion of 44th Kokborok Day.

Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb announced his governmentโ€™s decision to rename these two important locations of the state.

โ€œGandachera in Dhalai district will now be known as Ganda Tuisa and Atharamura will be known as Hachuk Berem,โ€ said CM Biplab Deb.

Notably, in the last Kokborok Day, Baramura hill range was renamed as Hatai Katar.

Hatai Katar is home to a large number of Hornbill bird.

Kokborok is lingua franca of a majority of Tripuraโ€™s 19 tribal communities.
