Three years have passed since Agartala-based journalist Santanu Bhowmik was killed at Mandai while covering an IPFT road blockade, however, justice still eludes his family.
On September 20, 2017, Santanu Bhowmik was killed by ‘IPFT” cadres while he was covering a road blockade programme of the party.
On his third death anniversary on Sunday, various programmes were held across Tripura with students’ organisations and journalists’ bodies paying floral tributes to the dead journalist.
After two months on November 21, 2017, another journalist- Sudip Datta Bhowmik- was killed by miscreants in the state.
“Justice to the slain journalists” was one of the major poll promises of the BJP in 2018 Assembly polls.
However, even after three years, justice eludes them.
Even though the case was handed over to the CBI, however, so far the apex investigative agency has not submitted any charge-sheet and the murderers are yet to be nabbed.
