The first consignment of the Covid-19 vaccines arrived at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala in Tripura on Wednesday.
The consignment comprised 56,500 doses of the vaccine.

Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb took to Twitter to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the vaccines.
“First consignment of 56,500 doses Covid vaccine arrives at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala. In first phase of vaccination, health and frontline warriors will be vaccinated. I would like to thank Shri @narendramodi ji as we gears up for world’s biggest vaccination drive,” Biplab Kumar Deb tweeted on Wednesday.

The vaccination drive will begin across India on January 16.
Healthcare workers and frontline workers will be the first to receive the vaccine.
The first consignment of Covid-19 vaccines for Assam and Meghalaya arrived in Guwahati on Tuesday evening.
The consignment comprised of 2 lakhs 76 thousand doses for both states.
Manipur on Wednesday received the first consignment of the vaccine comprising of 54,000 doses.
