Former Tripura chief secretary Yash Pal Singh on Wednesday was produced before the special judge Sabyasachi Datta Purkayastha of the West District and Sessions Court.

Singh, who is one of the prime accused of the state PWD scam of over Rs 600 crore, was flown in to Tripura by a morning flight from Gaziabad.

Singh was arrested on Monday.

Singh’s transit to Tripura was allowed by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) of a Ghaziabad court on Tuesday.

Sources informed that Tripura police, for further investigation, is seeking 10-day police custody of Singh.

Sources further informed that the former CS was detained from IRS Apartments in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad.

Singh was arrested by a Tripura police team, led by crime branch deputy superintendent Ajay Kumar Das, 128 days after he was booked in the multi-crore scam.

He was absconding since October 13, 2019, after a case was registered against him in the West Agartala police station.

Apart from Sing, cases were also filed against veteran CPI-M leader and former PWD minister Badal Choudhury and former PWD chief engineer Sunil Bhowmik.

Both Choudhury and Bhowmik were granted bail by the Tripura High Court a few weeks ago after they were arrested in October last year.
