AGARTALA: The Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) has submitted a proposal to the central government to establish 45 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the state.

This initiative is part of the Tripura government’s broader strategy to transition 10 percent of the state’s vehicles to electric within the next five years, following the adoption of its electric vehicle policy in 2022.

TSECL officials revealed that the Tripura transport department has already installed an EV charging station at the civil secretariat in Agartala.

“Plans are also in place to set up additional stations at key locations such as the Chandrapur Interstate Bus Terminus, Radhar Nagar, and Nagerjala Bus Stand in Agartala,” an official said.

“TSECL’s proposal aims to complement these efforts by adding 45 more charging points, pending approval from the central government. These would be strategically located at TSECL substations across the state,” said the official.

The official noted that the corporation is still awaiting a response from the government regarding their proposal.
