Tripura royal scion Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma on Friday announced that he was willing to step down as the chairman of Tipra Motha if required for the sake of unity.

In a tweet on Friday, Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma, who served as the Tripura Congress president, said he wants unity amongst the Tiprasa and all the political parties.

Debbarma, who has been demanding the creation of a separate Tipraland, said there is the need to unite for the cause of ‘Greater Tipraland’.

“I have wanted unity amongst the Tiprasa.I appeal to all parties that we should unite for our cause of Greater Tipraland. Names of parties, positions dont matter as much as the future of our ppl. If required I am willing to step down as Chairman of Tipra Motha for the sake of unity,” Debbarma said.

On November 3, Debbarma alleged that the administration denied the regional party from contesting a seat in Santirbazar.

he also alleged that Tipra Motha has been blocked from exercising their constitutional rights by the ruling party stopping them from filing their nomination.

“It’s a Shame that the Administration has denied a regional party from contesting a seat in Santirbazar. At every stage the Tipra Motha has been blocked from exercising their constitutional rights by ruling party stopping us from filing our nomination.” Debbarma tweeted on Wednesday.
