Agartala: In the past 24 hours, Tripura Police have seized illicit substances worth more than Rs 20 lakh in two separate operations across the state.
According to police reports, a coordinated operation was conducted late Wednesday night by Assam Rifles and Tripura Police at the residence of Hussain Ali in Dharmanagar sub-division of North Tripura District, acting on confidential information.

“During the operation, authorities recovered 22.5 grams of heroin from the premises, estimated to be valued at around Rs 1 lakh,” stated the police spokesperson. “However, Hussain Ali, the resident, managed to escape upon realizing the presence of law enforcement and Assam Rifles.”
Meanwhile, on Thursday, Tripura Police intercepted a significant quantity of Yaba tablets worth Rs 20 lakh from Brahmakunda village in Mohanpur Sub-division of West Tripura District.
Mohanpur Sub-divisional Police Officer Bijoy Sen reported receiving intelligence suggesting that Rupak Bhattacharya was stockpiling Yaba tablets at his residence in Brahmakunda village.

“Following this tip-off, a raid was promptly conducted, resulting in the confiscation of 4,000 Yaba tablets,” Sen stated. “The approximate value of the seized contraband is Rs 20 lakh. A case has been filed against the accused, who managed to evade capture. Investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to apprehend him.”
Authorities continue to pursue leads and coordinate efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.
