Tripura police say they plan to arrest former state chief secretary YP Singh over the multi-crore PWD scam.
A top police official said the Crime Branch has initiated necessary legal formalities for arresting Singh.
Tripura police have already arrested former PWD minister Badal Choudhury and former PWD chief engineer Sunil Bhowmik for involvement with the scam.
Government officials say the scam involves embezzlement of Rs 600 crore.
YP Singh was principal secretary in-charge of the PWD in 2008-09, when the alleged scam occurred.
“A team of Crime Branch officials will go to Delhi soon to arrest Singh,” a police official said on condition of anonymity.
Former minister Choudhury was arrested after he was tracked down to a private hospital late on Monday night.
He is now being treated in a private hospital in Agartala.
Choudhury’s bail petition is likely to come up for hearing in the Tripura High Court on Thursday.
Biplab Deb government had suspended nine policemen and transferred six officials, including an IPS officer for failing to track down Choudhury.
