The Tripura police has denied permission to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for holding a rally in Agartala on September 15.
Denying the permission for the rally, the police said that it has already granted permission to a different party for a rally on the same day.
The TMC rally was supposed to be led by the party’s national general secretary – Abhishek Banerjee.
After being denied permission for the rally, TMC is now drawing up alternative plans for September 15.
Meanwhile, the TMC has given a fresh application to the Tripura police seeking permission to hold the Abhishek Banerjee road show in Agartala on the same route on September 16.
“Police claims another political party has taken permission at the same time for the entire city of Agartala,” senior TMC leader Sushmita Dev said.

The ‘padyatra’ is being planned by the TMC, which is marking its entry into the political arena of Tripura, to highlight the “misrule of the BJP-IPFT government” in the state.
