AGARTALA: A devastating landslide in Gardang, of Santirbazar sub-division of South District of Tripura, has resulted in the deaths of seven people, including a 3-year-old child.
The landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall, struck Ashwini Tripura village in the Gardang Panchayat early this morning, burying the home of two families.

The victims have been identified as Umacharan Tripura (25), Mandira Tripura (23), Prasenjit Tripura (21), Ajay Tripura (16), Rakesh Tripura (18), Jyotika Tripura (21), and Kumtuisa Tripura (3).
So far, six bodies have been recovered, with efforts ongoing to locate the final victim. Local residents and authorities are working diligently to recover the remaining body.
Some family members have been injured and are receiving medical care.

An injured survivor recounted that the landslide occurred suddenly late last night, leading to the tragic loss of seven lives, including three of his sons, his daughter-in-law, granddaughter, younger brother, and his wife.
Since August 19, Tripura has been grappling with severe flooding, which has caused approximately 2,000 landslides and resulted in 10 deaths.
The widespread damage continues to affect the state, with recovery efforts underway.
