The Tripura State Election Commission on Tuesday formally issued notification for holding panchayat by-election.
As per the poll schedule, filing of nomination papers would begin from Wednesday while filing of nomination papers will be allowed till September 11.
Scrutiny will be conducted on September 12 and last date for withdrawal of nomination papers will be on September 14.
Polling will be held on September 30 while counting will be done on October 3 next.
The by-election will be held in 3386 seat of gram panchayats, panchayat samities and nagar panchayats.
The state election machineries – DMs and BDOs have already geared up to conduct the by-election in a free and fair manner.
All the three major political parties – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Communist Party of India – Marxist (CPI-M) and Congress have already declared to contest the by-elections.
Interestingly, no tribal based party – neither Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) nor the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) is going to participate in the upcoming panchayat by-elections.
The panchayat by-election is considered as an acid test for all the three major political parties before going for the Lok Sabha election slated for early next year.
