The joint director of Tripura Horticulture department, Soumitra Das has been suspended for his alleged involvement in corruption.
Sources stated that the allegations against Das were looked into by the department after which it has been established as genuine.

Das, who was the senior horticulturist in the past, was posted at Nagicherra Horticulture Research Centre.
He received the suspension order from the Department on Friday.
It has been reported that Das got involved in such practices when he was looking after the purchasing of seeds, fertilizer and agricultural equipment.

Das was also alleged to have been involved in other corruption practices.
However, the government did not take any action against Das.
Earlier, another agriculture officer Krishanu Chakraborty was also suspended for his involvement in corruption.
He was involved in the outlay meant for beautification of Unakoti.
