The Tripura High Court has dismissed the plea filed by terminated teachers seeking direct recruitment in different Group-C and Group-D posts. 

The petition was filed by three protesting teachers on behalf of 10,323 terminated teachers.

A one-judge bench of the Tripura High Court said that Article 226 of the Constitution does not allow it to pass order directing the state government to carry out recruitment for different departments directly. 

The Tripura High Court also upheld the policy of the state government for re-employment of terminated teachers.

The Supreme Court had upheld the decision of the Tripura High Court passed in 2014, terminating jobs of over 10.000 teachers, citing faulty recruitment. 

Notably, the Biplab Deb-led BJP government in Tripura had sought High Court’s direction for recruitment of the terminated teachers in various government departments. 

The Tripura government’s plea was rejected by the Court.
