AGARTALA: Tripura chief minister Manik Saha has announced his intent to reopen all cases related to political murders that allegedly occurred during the Left Front regime in the state.
Tripura CM Manik Saha said that he is considering reopening the political murder cases for investigation after the Lok Sabha elections.
Notably, the CPI-M-led Left Front governed Tripura for 35 years, spanning two phases from 1978 to 1988 and 1993 to 2018.
Saha claimed that 69 people were reportedly killed in South Tripura district alone during the Left Front’s tenure in the state.
He indicated that the actual count could be significantly higher if records from all districts were compiled.
Emphasizing his government’s commitment to pursuing justice, Tripura CM Manik Saha affirmed that legal opinions would be sought on reopening the cases post Lok Sabha elections.
He underscored the significance of addressing past political violence through thorough investigation and legal recourse.
Expressing optimism about the BJP’s electoral prospects, Saha predicted a substantial victory for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
