Tripura Government has approved nine new commodities for export to Bangladesh through three land customs stations of the State.

These nine commodities are raw latex, bamboo-based products, broomstick flowers, soyabean seeds, spare parts of motor-vehicles run by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), maize, rice, betel leaves and dry fishes.

These nine commodities doesn’t have to follow port restriction rules and regulations.

Rice, betel leaves and dry fishes will be exported from Srimantapur Land Customs Station in Sipahijala district and Manughat Land Customs Station in the southern part of the state and the rest of the six commodities through through Agartala-Akhaura International Check Post (ICP).

President of Tripura Chamber of Commerce and Industries (TCCI) ML Debnath said that allowing relaxation of port restrictions for these nine commodities will help in boosting trade between Tripura and Bangladesh. According to past data reports , the  cost of imported commodities from Bangladesh were around Rs 300 crore while the income earned from exports was Rs 80 lakh.

In March, TCCI allowed relaxation of port restrictions on 27 commodities for export to Bangladesh. However, it was reduced to 10 commodities after discussion with the Bangladesh Government.
