Tripura: Government employee held for involvement in drug racket

The police have arrested Sanat Chakma, a Tripura government employee for his involvement in a drug racket.

He was arrested from Kanchanpur in North Tripura district on Tuesday evening.

The police also detained another youth along with Chakma.

Based on a tip-off, Kanchanpur sub-divisional police officer, Bikramjit Shukladas led a raid in the Malakar Basti of Laljuri block in Kanchanpur.

The police team picked up the accused during the raid and recovered stocks of heroin from him, which he had reportedly stored for smuggling.

The heroine recovered is worth a few lakhs of rupees, said police sources.

The accused is employed as an upper-division clerk at the sub-divisional administration office in Panisagar.
