Tripura gears up for Independence Day celebration

TSR, BSF, Tripura Police, Dog Squad and Bomb squad are maintaining strict vigil in every nook and corner of the three districts of North, Unakoti and Dhallai districts to avoid any untoward incident during Independence Day celebration.

166th BSF battalion has extended their security force in Ragna, Yakubnagar, Malakarbasti and other areas to observe Independence Day celebration.

On the other hand, the TSR 3rd battalion force has taken up the responsibility to keep a minute checking at the railway station and the railway tunnels to avoid any kind of illegal intrusion into the state ahead of the Independence Day celebration.

The checking is being done to avert any subversive activities by miscreants. Sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squad have also been pressed into service.

Bhanupada Chakraborty, North SP said, “We are checking the railway stations and buses, hotels, different areas ahead of Independence Day. We have taken dog squad with us so that no mishap occurs. We urge the public to inform the police if they see anything suspicious.”

All police stations in Tripura are put on maximum alert and BSF has been alerted so that no insurgent can cross the border from their hideout in Bangladesh.

Patrolling by CRPF and Tripura State Rifles has been intensified in remote tribal and insurgency-prone areas.
