Along with rest of the country, Eid ul-Fitr was celebrated adhering to the lockdown protocols in Tripura as well.
As per lockdown norms only 5 persons were allowed for Eid Namaz in the mosques and there was no violation to this rule in Tripura as well.
Most people prayed staying indoors in compliance to the appeals made by several Muslim bodies of the state.
Tripura Rajya Jamiyet Ulema Hind, the biggest association of Muslims in Tripura, also appealed to the people to stay during Eid.
The issue was also taken up in a meeting held between the government and Muslim bodies under the chairmanship of state education minister Ratan Lal Nath on Saturday.
After the meeting the SDMs met the local religious leaders on Sunday and appealed them to offer Eid Namaz in their homes.
“We urged the people to offers this year’s Eid namaz in their homes itself. Our aim is to stop the spread of coronavirus at any cost, ” said Imam Abdul Rahim Choudhury of Ramnagar Masjid while speaking to Northeast Now on Monday.
