A dedicated Covid Care Centre has been opened in the GBP Hospital in Agartala in Tripura to facilitate better treatment of Covid-19 patients.
West Tripura MP, Pratima Bhoumik inaugurated the centre on Saturday.
A doctor of the GBP hospital on condition of anonymity said, “Due to Covid-19 treatment, the treatment of patients suffering from other ailments was greatly hampered. The surgical section of the hospital was quite affected.”
“However, with a dedicated Covid Care Centre opening in our hospital, we can now offer better and quality treatment to Covid-19 patients as well as patients suffering from other ailments,” he added.
The three-storied Covid Care Center is equipped with all modern medical facilities such as 13 ventilators, X-Ray, ultra-sonography, other diagnostic facilities and labour room.
The centre currently has 221 beds, of which 39 beds are for patients in the intensive care and post-operative units.
Moreover, 63 beds have been connected to the central oxygen supply system of the hospital to facilitate better treatment of Covid-19 patients requiring oxygen support.
According to sources, many departments in the main building of the Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) had to operate from other buildings in the campus in order to accommodate Covid-19 patients.
However, with such patients being shifted to the Covid Care Centre now, these departments will shift back to the main building and function as before.
