Opposition CPI-M in Tripura has opposed the governmentโ€™s decision to hand over the management of the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala to the Adani group.ย 

โ€œThe Modi government is going to hand over the MBB airport in Agartala to the Adani group. We condemn this move and demand the centre to roll back its decision,โ€ CPI-M leader Manik Dey said.ย 

This demand of the CPI-M comes just a day before PM Narendra Modiโ€™s visit to the city on Tuesday, where he will inaugurate a new terminal building at the MBB airport.ย 

The newย terminal building of Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartalaย has been built at a cost of Rs 3400 crores.ย

โ€œHanding over the airport to the Adani group is nothing but a betrayal to the people of Tripura,โ€ Day said.ย 

He added: โ€œNow a private party will make profits by using a public property.โ€ย 

Moreover, the CPI-M has demanded the Centre to upgrade the MBB airport to an international airport.ย
