Opposition CPI-M in Tripura has opposed the government’s decision to hand over the management of the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala to the Adani group.
“The Modi government is going to hand over the MBB airport in Agartala to the Adani group. We condemn this move and demand the centre to roll back its decision,” CPI-M leader Manik Dey said.
This demand of the CPI-M comes just a day before PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on Tuesday, where he will inaugurate a new terminal building at the MBB airport.
The new terminal building of Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala has been built at a cost of Rs 3400 crores.

“Handing over the airport to the Adani group is nothing but a betrayal to the people of Tripura,” Day said.
He added: “Now a private party will make profits by using a public property.”
Moreover, the CPI-M has demanded the Centre to upgrade the MBB airport to an international airport.
