Among those who have been granted bail are: deputy leader of opposition in Tripura Assembly – Badal Chowdhury, former minister Manik Dey and former MP Shankar Prasad Dutta.

Manik Dey told the court that the cases filed against the CPI-M leaders were ‘false’ and the BJP-led Tripura government is trying to harass the opposition party leaders.

“We protested demanding basic amenities for people. The government failed to fulfil the basic needs of people. They are being put behind bars if they protested. This is anarchy,” Dey alleged.
