Tripura Police on Wednesday after medical check-up produced in court the arrested Indian member of Islamic terrorist organization Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) with a plea for 14-days police remand on Wednesday.

However, the court had allowed police custody for 12 days, said public prosecutor Bidyut Sutradhar.

Identified as Nazir Shaikh, a resident of Murshidabad in West Bengal, the nabbed JMB operative is trained in improvised explosive device or IED and is suspected to have a connection in planting IEDs which were recovered on January 19, 2018, when Dalai Lama was visiting Bodh Gaya.

On the basis of the specific input, the police arrested him a day before from bordering A D Nagar area in the outskirts of capital Agartala. He was working for the last 15 days at a construction site there disguised as a mason.

Senior officials of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to arrive in Agartala to interrogate the arrested JMB terrorist.
