Tripura cops suspended after accused flee from custody

Three police personnel have been suspended after two accused fled from custody in Tripura on Tuesday evening.

The two accused in illegal ganja trade fled from the police custody at Melaghar of Sepahijala district.

However, Melaghar police station staff managed to arrest one of them.

But the other accused is still on the run.

They fled from the police custody with the seized ganja.

Police said on Tuesday morning, Melaghar police station detained one vehicle from Khedabari area which was going to Agartala.

During search police recovered 220 kilogram of ganja from that vehicle.

Police arrested the vehicle driver Kala Ahmed and accomplish Dilwar Hossain.

They were from Dharmanagar.

On Tuesday evening both of them fled from the Melaghar police station with some packets of the seized ganja.

Later at around 11 pm, police managed to nab Kala Ahmed.

But there is no trace of Dilwar Hossain.

The superintendent of police at Sepahijala, Krishnendu Chakraborty informed that, after hearing this he went to Melaghar police station late night.

Already three policemen have been suspended for dereliction of duty.

The suspended policemen are sub-inspector Biswapati Chakraborty, havildar Pranati Das and sentry Dipak Baidya.
