Three Congress workers sustained injuries when they were allegedly attacked by a group of BJP activits during a relief distribution programme at Ranir Bazar in West Tripura district on Sunday.

Relief materials brought by the Congress workers were allegedly snatched away by the BJP goons, Assam Tribune reported.

PCC president Pijush Kanti Biswas has condemned the incident and demanded strict action against the culprit.

An FIR has been lodged with the Ranir Bazar Police station against the attackers but no arrest has been made yet.

PCC president Biswas alleged that party leaders and workers were attacked and threatened by the BJP workers at various places for helping the poor.

“Today’s incident at Ranir Bazar is the latest when our party leaders and workers who went there to help the poor during the lockdown came under attack. Don’t know what kind of message they want to send by attacking Opposition party workers,” he told reporters in Agartala.

Earlier, Congress leaders and workers had faced threats and intimidations at Belonia, Khowai and Teliamura from the BJP supporters but nobody has been arrested yet.
