Agartala: Congress candidate from the West Tripura Parliamentary seat, Asish Kumar Saha on Wednesday filed the nomination for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
The Congress candidate emphasized the critical nature of the upcoming Lok Sabha election, highlighting its significance in restoring democracy and upholding the Constitution.
In his debut Lok Sabha election bid, Saha said that there was an urgent need to safeguard democracy and uphold constitutional principles.
Backed by the INDI alliance, Left Front, and three other parties, he expressed optimism about his prospects and pledged to confront those who, he claimed, had plundered the nation over the past decade.
Accompanied by prominent leaders such as Supriya Shrinate, Jitendra Chowdhury, Sudip Roy Barman, and Gopal Roy, Saha filed his nomination amidst a rally, symbolizing unity across party lines in his cause.
He voiced concern over the “erosion of rights” in Tripura, stressing the need for concerted efforts nationwide to protect democracy.
Saha denounced the “BJP’s tactics of instilling fear to cling to power in Tripura”, asserting that the electorate yearns to resist such coercion.
