The police in Tripura have registered as many as five criminal cases against a total of 71 persons for allegedly posting ‘provocative’ posts in the social media. 

The cases were reportedly filed by the Tripura police on Wednesday morning. 

5 criminal cases have been registered against 71 persons who posted provocative posts on social media. Strict action shall be taken against those persons who are trying to create hatred in the society,” the Tripura police informed. 

“Tripura Police appeals to all not to like/retweet provocative posts since it amounts to rumour mongering,” it added.

The police in Tripura further claimed that the “law and order is absolutely normal in the state”. 

Further the police urged the people “not to indulge in posting fake pictures/rumour mongering”. 

Communal tensions have been running high in the Northeast state of Tripura after the minority community in the state were allegedly attacked by members of right-winged groups.
