AGARTALA: Tripura chief minister Dr Manik Saha lambasted the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), accusing it of depriving the people of Tripura for a lengthy 35-year period.

He criticized the CPI-M’s focus on misleading and impoverishing the populace, highlighting the government’s efforts to increase social pension, making Tripura the only state in India where the government provides Rs 2000 as social pension.

Dr Saha questioned the CPI-M’s accomplishments during its rule, alleging that their main agenda was to deceive the people and maintain their power by keeping them impoverished.

The Tripura CM further pointed out the violence that occurred during the CPI-M’s regime, leading to many people fleeing the state to ensure their safety.

He emphasized that the current BJP-led Tripura government does not condone such practices.

The Tripura CM highlighted the peaceful conduct of the 2023 assembly election, contrasting it with the CPI-M’s history of “organized rigging” during elections.

He credited the peaceful election to the “faith the people” have in the current administration.

Dr Saha also mentioned the launch of the web portal “Amar Sarkar”, which allows people to file complaints with pictures, aiming to address their grievances promptly.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to delivering the benefits of various schemes to all sections of the population impartially.
