Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb has fulfilled the wish of Barsha Das, an eight standard student by responding to her appeal for help.

Barsha is a resident of Maheshkhala area, situated at a distance of about 8 kms away from Agartala in Tripura.

A student of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, she had sent a video message to the chief minister on Facebook a few days ago.

In that message, she said that she lives along with her parents and brother in a small house and the family’s financial condition is so bad that she can’t even afford to purchase a study table.

A few days later Barsha’s mother reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 because of which the family’s situation worsened further.

With no one to turn for help, the desperate Barsha again sent a video message to the chief minister on Facebook, appealing for food and medicines for her ailing mother.

When the message came to the notice of Biplab Deb, he immediately directed the authorities concerned to help the poor student.

The next day officials arrived at her house with a study table, food items and medicines for her mother.

Barsha’s family was surprised to receive such a prompt response from the chief minister’s office.

“We did not believe that the chief minister would give a response to the video message of our daughter. We are very grateful to him for his help at this moment of crisis,” said Barsha’s father Uttam Das.
