A group is active in Tripura that brings children into the State for begging.

A vicious circle is engaged in trafficking children from places like Rajasthan, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh.

The Childline authorities have disclosed this fact after rescuing eight children from different places of Agartala.

It is learnt that for quite some time, the people of Agartala have been witnessing some children begging in front of various shopping complex, markets and the Agartala railway station.

They are seen begging money or collecting donation in the name of different organizations.

The local people informed these incidents to the Childline authority.

The members of Agartala Childline along with members of Nilajyoti Home rescued altogether eight children from Agartala railway station.

These children reportedly hail from Rajasthan and other parts of the country.

It has learnt that around 27 children are used in begging at Agartala rail station.

On Thursday afternoon when Childline workers went to Agartala railway station to rescue those children many of them fled from the spot.

Some middle-aged women work as their mentor.

Chairperson of Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights (TCPCR) and officials of District Education of Social Education (DISE) said the detained children and women will be produced before child welfare committee on Friday.
